Dear all:

For this Month's Picture of the Month, I have adopted the "marque"
technique allowed by the browser to scroll the picture automatically.

In particular, the picture of the calligrphy/ painting is displayed from
right-to-left as it should be viewed.

The motion can be stopped at any time, simply by pointing the mouse
cursor to any point within the picture, and its motion resumed by
moving the mouse cursor again.

I am not sure whether this technique works with all browsers or not.
Please let me know your reaction, so I may decide for future
application.

Ming

Dear Ming,

this technique (and of course, the scroll too!) is fantastic. It works without problems with IE for MacOS X. The Apple brand browser Safari doesn't, though. I like Safari very much for some of its features, but it seems that there are still a couple of bugs (e.g. it doesn't process the<img align='right' tag, whereas <img align='center' tag is no problem, except for that the image is placed to the right instead in the middle!).

Dear Ming,

I admire your ability to be able to put something like this in your net. It is really good.

I must admit that I don't like this particular piece of calligraphy. This is my personal opinion only. I like the other calligraphy by the same author and the two styles are so different. I am not sure if other readers share my opinion, but I just can't agree the many good remarks made by the critics.

Regards,
Julian.
