Dear friends,
I was asked recently what was the name of the Chinese author displayed on this painting:

It maybe reads Shun4 or such, and Xiao1??? Are you able to decipher? (I didn't get the whole piece of painting.)

Yes, I only found that he is from Guangxi. not much anything else. The seal is badly carved. He is quite contemporary. _________________ SL Lee

I have deleted your post as I find it adding no value to this forum. You have posted less than 10 posts so far, and none has any positive contribution to the forum other than attacking other people personally. Your behavior has been noted by others in the forums and receives no support.
The post I deleted is about my seal as an ordinary one, after my comment on the seal by the Guangxi calligrapher. I can tell you a lot more about seal carving on how to evaluate a good seal from a bad one. I am not a seal carver but I do know about how to evaluate them and I have done carving to realize the difficulty of carving a good seal. Seal carving is a different art from brush calligraphy. This is beside the point.
My seal is not an excellent one except the carver already made his name 50 years ago. He is still alive at 96 living in Vancouver. He probably has carved hundreds if not thousands of seals for some very prominent figures in history. My seal is not very creative but is well carved. I use it because it is a gift from my father. I dedicate my interest and accomplishment (if any) to his memory. Every time I use the seal, it reminds me of him.
I use my real name to post in this forum. You can Google with my name and calligraphy to find 500 English entries and 800 Chinese entries. If you are a calligrapher or seal carver, please use your real name and post your work to the forum so we can all appreciate it. Or, point out your specific analysis with qualification.
I should have let Professor Pei and others see your post first. You can post it again and let others comment on it. This is a quasi-academic forum. All moderators and participants are professionals quite knowledgeable in Chinese culture.
