First of all, thank you so much for making such a website available.

Second, for teenagers such as I who were born in China, but raised in the US, and only have about 2nd or 3rd grade-level Chinese, would you please post pinyin for all the literature posted on your website (if it is possible)? I enjoy reading the great literatures in English, but it is simply not the same as reading them in Chinese. There are always contents, meanings, etc lost in the translation, regardless how great the translator.

Thank you[/i]

Dear guest:

Glad to hear from you. I hope you will take time to register, so you can post more freely in all forums.

I started this web site 10 years ago. At that time, almost no one was from the Mainland or can read pinyin. My main goal was (and still is) to be a resource about China and Chinese culture for American readers.

It is heartening that 10 years later, there are many, mnay more people like you who find this web site useful as well.

When I started, all Chinese text are in fanti and coded in [big5]. As time goes on, jianti [simplified] is used more and more. With the newer
versions of Microsoft Windows, it has become easier for our readers to read Chinese with their browsers.

You ask me to provide pinyin. This is a great idea. However, this is a big task, which must wait for some volunteer to implement. Will you do it? Do you know someone who might be interested in this? As for myself, I do not know pinyin well, and must use a dictionary to look up each and every word. Sad

Ming
