Part of a most famous tourist site in Beijing, the Summer Palace, is to be closed for two years because of repairing work.

The area to be closed includes the famous long corridor which features painted ceilings and pillars. A lot of the paintings depict ancient Chinese legends and stories. The Tower of the Buddhist incense are also to be closed for repairing work.

Do you know when the Summer Palace is due to close for repairs? I am visiting Beijing in December this year and wanted to visit the palace whilst there. Thank you. Debbie.

The news report was dated May 1,2005, so I doubt that
there will be updates soon.

The report says that part of the park will be closed.
So you may still be able to visit.

After a major extensive repair project, it has just re-opened to
the public!
