I am looking for someone with calligraphy experience to make invitations for a wedding in the United States. My thought is that rather than buy boring commercial invitations in the US, I could give the work to a calligrapher in China, and thereby make the invitations more personal.

The downside is that much of the calligraphy would have to be in English characters, because many recipients do not read Chinese.

I do not know if this makes any sense or it is a foolish idea, but if you know of anyone who might be interested in helping me, perhaps a student wishing to make some extra money and support his or her calligraphy, I am hoping it might work out well.

Thank you for your help.

Millions got married every month, and they all send out wedding invitations.

There are countless printing shops specializing in printing these. You can
even find them in major cities in the U.S. and Canada.

It is quite a common practice to include two invitations, one in English
and one in Chinese. This would serve you well.

In which city do you live?

I live in Boston. I know of many places that will print invitations using a letterpress or similar mechanism. However, I think it would be more respectful and pleasing to have handwritten invitations rather than manually printed ones. I know that I always prefer to receive handwritten letters over typed letters from my friends.

I have looked around on the internet and found US artists willing to work with me, but I decided it would be interesting to see if a Chinese calligraphy artist might be a better alternative before I make a decision.

Thank you for your suggestion regarding printing two versions. That may be the best way, assuming it is not overly costly to print everything twice. I am very grateful for any further suggestions you might have.
