Dear Tuan:
I can read your postings (which is in BIG5) without difficulty.
Becuase many (most) computers outside of China are not set up properly to read Chinese by the stores selling them, we often have problems.
Please go to "Questons about Reading Chinese codes" section of this Forum for previous postings on this topic.
If you are using Windows 2000 or later, here is what to do:
(1) Click on 'View' to get a drop-down menu.
(2) Use your mouse to highlight 'Encoding' to get the next menu.
This sub-menu will show the following choices:
Chinese Simplified (GB2312)
Chinese Traditional (big5)
Unicode (UTF-
(If one or more do not show, click on 'More')
(3) Select from one the three, and you will be able to read the Chinese words.
Why is this necessary?
The Forum allows you and others to post messages using all 3 different systems. So it contains a mixture of 3 different types of coded texts.
Instead of forcing every to use the same coding system, I am allowing the writers to use whatever code they like. As a result, the reader has the burden to tell the computer what the correct code is use.
(Currently, different webpages may use different coding system, and we can automate that. But within one signle webpage, if a mixture of codes (i.e. big5, gb etc) is used, then the program is not smart enough to switch.
You are smarter than the computer programs in your computer.

This was the problem I had for quite some time - until I got a new (simple) browser (Macintosh "Safari"). Now and then again using the browser shipping with my Apple computer (Internet Explorer for Mac), I see that this problem never had been solved!
I can read your BIG5 (and also your GB). Do you mean that you cannot read your own posts encoding after having sent them???

谢谢§A们.
¥j¤å蕴ÂÃ着¯«¯µªº·N©À. Same like the English. Have you come across such words: God spelt backward is dog, and live becomes evil and lived, devil.
This could be coincidental. But if I were to offer my explanation from the theological point of view. It is appalling.
