|
|
Hello-
I have a Chinese scroll which you can see at
http://www.rdrop.com/users/green/plantit/SCROLL.jpg
I think this painting is by Baden Shanren. My questions are:
1. When was this scroll made? It looks old, but is it?
2. Who made it. I don't think Baden made it himself, did he?
3. Are there many scrolls just like this (mass produced)?
4. This scroll has one stamp, but some scrolls have many stamps. Who made these stamps and when? Were these stamps just added to make the scroll look 'official'?
5. How should I take care of this scroll?
6. Is this scroll valuable?
Thank you helping me with this information. I really like these Chinese scrolls and want to learn about them. There is not much information in the US. _________________ InterestedInChineseArt |

Bada Shenren is a famous painter. Spend a little time to read
up about him. See examples in this web site.

There are millions of hand-painted Bada Shenren for sale for $75
and up. Just check out Ebay. |

I would say it is more a fake than genuine painting by Badashanren, too bad to disappoint you.
The painting looks very crafty unlike the casual style of Bada. The signature is not his. There are a lot of fake paintings by the famous painters like him. _________________ SL Lee

yes, this is exactly my impression also. Visiting the Japanese Ebay sellers' catalogues (as I have been doing a couple years ago, myself), will show you sometimes even better pieces and their usual price ranges.

What would an original of Bada's sell for? Even at 75 bucks that's still pretty expensive for a fake isn't it?

I like your scroll, I haven't seen any like this before. It may possibly have some value but it really does depend on the authenticity of the piece.

There are many available like this, Bada is a well-known. I don't know if this is genuine or not though. |
