Adopted Child's Chinese First Name

About last names | Home

The logo shown above is the Chinese word for 'first name.'

Each Chinese person has a different first name

The Chinese do not have common names like Mary or Robert. Each child gets a unique name different from anyone else.

Your child's real Chinese name
Somewhere in the documents, there is your child's Chinese name. Locate it and scan it with a scanner to obtain a computer-readable file. This is a simple step analogous to making a photocopy.
If you do not have a scanner, find a friend with access of a scanner in the office or home. Try the local library. Some photocopy stores (i.e. Kinko) can also do this for you.
Another way to do this: a website for Disability Project will do it for you. Send a photocopy with $1 to them.

The result is a small computer file with a file name of child.jpg or child.gif (while 'child' is any word, and it does not matter that the second part is jpg or gif).

Show me the file
Unless you show me the file with the Chinese, it is not possible to know what the child's real name is. Translated English (e.g. Wang Da) is not sufficient. [Polish or Russian names can't be translated in unique ways either.]

Send me the file with your child's Chinese name attached to a short email message. Include the name of the child's hometown, and I will respond to you about the name.

My website gets over 20,000 page views each day. Due to the high volume of emails and more than one virus per week, I will only answer emails coming from the family of adopted children. If I can bring a tiny bit of happiness into your family, I shall be happy also. Write to me at p e i @ c h i n a p a g e . o r g [Leave out the spaces. I write it this way here to prevent junk mail programs from harvesting this email address for their mailing lists.]
